Diversity and composition of riparian vegetation across forest and agro-ecosystem landscapes of Cabadbaran River, Agusan del Norte, Philippines

The Cabadbaran River Irrigation System (CabRIS) supports about 3,212 hectares of farmland for irrigation. Unfortunately, the local irrigation office reported an insufficient water supply to serve entire service area in past cropping seasons. yield has been dwindling; hence, system management plan will address resource crisis. As a component project "Cabadbaran Management Plan Water Resources (2022-2026)", biophysical team carried out floristic assessment watershed. study used quadrat-transect sampling method assess and characterise structure species composition riparian areas main River, City, Agusan del Norte, Philippines. Results recorded 109 morpho-species belonging 46 families 88 genera from sites. Nineteen were listed either on Philippine Red List or IUCN Threatened Species. plant diversity revealed that biodiversity forests watershed was low very due massive rampant disturbance area. ecosystem represents fragile is threatened by increasing demands regional conversion lands into tree plantations agriculture. Addressing these driving forces causing loss impart significant challenge land managers region.
